Santa

Kellyn has been obsessed with Santa as of late and it's probably my fault. I made her a video on the portable north pole, which is a video of Santa telling her to be good.  with her recent obsession I thought it would be a good idea to take her to meet the real Santa. While waiting for him she was talking a really good game. She was going to sit on his lap and tell him that she wanted books- nothing else. When she got up to Santa she was fine talking to him, but when I tried to get her to sit on his lap she freaked out and said "I just stand by him".  She did tell him that she wanted books-scary ones. All in all, it was a pretty good visit.

Battling a 2 year old

As of lately it seems like everything is a battle with Kellyn. Lately she will say she is hungry and then insist on a particular meal, but then she won't eat that meal. She will then say she is starving come bed time. To be frank, I'm tired of it! So, last night I decided that I was not going to deal with these shenanigans. She refused to eat her quesadilla  that she HAD to have. So I told her she had to sit with me on the couch until she decided to eat her meal or go to bed.
I told her that were fighting and I was not going to allow her to have any fun until she eats. That meant no playing, no watching moving, nothing but sitting at the couch.  She cried and continued to refuse to eat for over an hour. Ryan walked into the room and she said, "mommy and me are fighting".
I finally won, an hour and a half later. So although she looks so cute and sweet, she is also independent, determined and stubborn. Which I can't complain because that is the type of person I would like her to grow into. However, I will continue to be the more stubborn one! I'm sure this is just the start of our battles.

She is pretty cute though! :)

Funny things Kellyn says

A few weeks ago she couldn't reach something and said, "Mom, I have a difficulty"

When asking where Peppe was she said, "He must be getting me a pop."

After buying groceries that lady asked me if I wanted cash back Kellyn said, "I want cash back!"

Last night after eating for my birthday Kellyn was trying to get Ryan's wallet and she said, "I have no money. I need money Daddy! I've got to go shopping."

While eating last night she was looking around at all the people, she must have found some people she found interesting because she yelled across the restaurant, "Hey, People!" When telling her not to yell she said, "I just want to talk to the people."

One evening she was particularly whinny and cranky. While taking her bath she said, " I'm cranky, must be tired!"

One days she wanted me to sing to happy song ( if your happy and you know it). I had sang one line and she said, " stop mom, your not good."

Imaginary friend

About a month ago Kellyn starting talking about Peppe (he is french so you must enunciate the pe at the end. She will correct you if you don't enunciate the end!). I came to the conclusion that Peppe was not a real person, but her imaginary friend. This is what I've learned about Peppe:
  • He is a boy
  • He is scared of adults
  • He fights off monsters
One day she put herself in timeout and in asking why she was in timeout it came out that she hit Peppe. It appears that Peppe is somewhat of a wimp... She frequently talks to Peppe when playing in her room or riding in the car. Last night this following conversation happened between her and Peppe....

Kellyn: Peppe, don't eat my jacket! You know better than that, I'm going to have to spank your butt! I told you no! You need to listen! You know better than that!

This went on for a good 10 minutes. Finally, Kellyn stated, You need to stop Peppe needs to get out. He can't listen. I told her that I couldn't stop and Peppe would get out when we got home. She has developed some imagination!

Although, I've never seen Peppe, I'm assuming he looks like this little dude.

Arkansas

We went to Arkansas for the Tennessee vs. Arkansas football game. While we were there we went to my
cousin Brandon's state playoff high school game and took family pictures. Here are some of the pics.
Enjoy!
All of us

Kellyn and Kalen

Kalen, Kellyn and Khloe.. Wearing KU, K-State, and Mizzou... This could cause problems later on life.

Painting

Since it has been cold and not so warm/sunny outside we have been doing "fun" things inside. Kellyn has recently developed a love for painting. I made home made finger paints, but I think i let it cook too long because it came out somewhat... chunky. Oh well, she still enjoyed making a mess!

She also has a new love for finger painting. She has done so well in only coloring on the paper and I've been rather impressed. One day, I showed her how to paint on her hand and then make a hand print. That was an obvious mistake- this is what she now does when she paints.
I was putting dishes away while she was painting. I look up and she says, "Look, I'm putting on my make up. I look like you!" Luckily, it was water color and easily came off!

Daddy's eyes

After retuning from work yesterday Ryan told me that he took Kellyn shopping and while shopping this conversation happened....

Sales lady: You have beautiful eyes.
Ryan: Kellyn, what do you say?
Kellyn: I have Daddy's eyes!
Ryan: (laughing) I did not train her to say that. She was suppose to say thank you.

ABC's

K-State

Ryan is so proud. Kellyn has recently become obsessed with K-State. It could be because Ryan and I have gone to a couple of games or because Ryan sings her the fight song daily. I'm thinking it's the latter of the two. Regardless she loves her K-State blanket and frequently says she is going to go to school at K-State. We're starting early :)

Flower Girl

Last weekend Kellyn was a flower girl again! She acted like an old pro. Not so shocking, she was bossing the other flower girl and the ring boys on how to walk down the isle. "hold my hand", "almost time". Of course, she loves getting all the attention and people awing in her cuteness! Below are some pictures.

Can't your envision what she will look like as a bride? Kept saying, "I want to get married!"

She is such a little ham and loves attention. At the reception I noticed that she was laying on the floor and kept going back to this same location (not the location above, in this pic she was trying to look up Nicole's dress). I looked closer and the photographer was sitting in front of her taking pictures and she was posing away.

Mean mug! She will mean mug on command (as above) or whenever she doesn't get what she wants. The funny thing is that it's hilarious and you can't help but laugh!

I'm 2, 5!

Little miss bossy pants, Kellyn turned two on Sunday. If you ask her how old she is she will say, "I'm 2, 5!" She is also 10 sometimes and other times 16.

If you know Kellyn you know that she is easily bribed. I can get her to do nearly anything for an M&M or skittle. For weeks we have been talking about her birthday party and all the things she would get to do at her party. If I wanted her to do anything all I needed to say was, if you want pop at your party you probably should do this and magically, it would get done! Due to all the bribing she was incredibly excited for her party. The first thing she said Sunday morning was, "it's my birthday. I want my party!".

My dad got her this four-wheeler battery powered bike. She loves it, but can't push the peddle just yet.

Below are pictures from her party...

Lake of the Ozarks

We went to the Lake of the Ozarks with some of our friends over Labor day weekend. I was worried about Kellyn enjoying herself. I knew that she would need to wear his life jacket if she was on the dock and I assumed she would HATE her life jacket. Shockingly she didn't mind wearing her jacket. She also loved riding in the boat and playing in the water ( she called his yellow water). Our friends have a water mat- A huge mat that can hold up to 8 adults. She thought the mat was the coolest thing since pull-ups!

Cousins

A few weeks ago it was my nephew's second birthday. He is exactly one month older than Kellyn. Below are some pictures of them playing nicely with each other after his party.

The first picture is Khloe. As kellyn would say, "Khloe is tiny!" She was born almost two months ago weighting just over 5 lbs! She is such an easy going tiny little thing that you just want to put into your pocket.

One month apart, but look at the size difference.

Big Girl

Ryan and I had been discussing turning Kellyn's crib into a bed for a few weeks. We had many of the obvious and typical hesitations. Our big problem was that in order for her to have a "bumper" we had to buy one from the manufacture of the crib. If you know me, I hate hassle. It's annoying and I don't have the time. Despite that minor problem we turned her bed into a big girl toddler bed.
She has done great. She is on the floor( we put pillows down) a few nights a week. She has never woke up when she falls out of bed. In the morning I'll ask, "Kellyn, did you fall out of bed last night?" and she'll say, "No, I got up and laid on the floor." Whatever you need to tell your self to feel okay about falling out of bed!

Family Pics

Here are some of our family pictures. They are pretty good considering it was 110 degrees out and Kellyn was hot and not cooperating! Photos taken by Candice at www.candicemariephotography.com
