We've got a smart little cookie!

Ryan and I were both shocked after moving Kellyn to a toddler bed because we had no problems with her getting out of bed when it was bed time. She quickly figured out that she is able to get out of her own bed. So, essentially for the last 2-3 months we have been battling her to stay in bed every, single, night. As of late the battling has gotten later and later, until almost 10:30 some nights. We've asked around and it seems like the only thing to do, and the most suggested by doctors, is to get one of those child protection door knobs (where you have to pinch the plastic cover to get the door to open). So, after much debating and trying other things first we finally resorted to getting one of those door knobs.

Tonight, when putting Kellyn to bed I told her that if she chooses to get out of bed that she would be stuck. Shockingly, she got out of bed. She stood at the door crying and knocking for 10-15 minutes before I went in to console her. I told her that she again, would not be able to get out of her room if she got out of bed. She said, "I'll be stuck? I need to stay in bed." I told her yes and that I'd see her in the morning.

Ryan was in the shower and I was watching my guilty pleasure (Vampire Diaries) and I thought I heard something in her room, but I didn't hear anything else so I continued in the glory of my show. During a commercial I got up to see if she was asleep. Much to my surprise she was awake, with her light on, and with no pants on!

(Backstory, she has a stool that she pushes around everywhere to get things that are out of her reach or turn on a light). I went into her room and she was playing with her toys. I asked she didn't have her pants on and she said, "I pottied in my pull up and needed new panties." (another back story, she hasn't figured out that she puts one leg in each hole of her panties... so she puts two legs in one hole and pulls up her panties. So, her little hinney is exposed and her panties are bunched up around her waist.) I got her dressed and took away her stools and told her to go to sleep.

I've often been amazed by her problem solving skills for a two year old, but tonight she almost out did herself. I couldn't be mad at her. I was actually somewhat proud of her and her ornery ways!
