Circus fun
Yesterday we took Kellyn to the Circus. Above is the picture outside of the expo center waiting on Uncle Preston ( we always have to wait on him, not sure what's up with that!). Notice her amazingly cute sun glasses.
Before the circus started they had elephant, pony, or camel rides. Kellyn was very interested in the elephants, but refused to ride. She did, however, ride the pony and was VERY upset when she had to get off the pony.
Her second favorite part was cotton candy. She didn't even know what cotton candy was, but she knew it had the word candy in it so it must be delicious. As she can see from the picture above and below she couldn't get it in her mouth fast enough.
At intermission she got to ride the pony again. We spent more on pony rides than it cost to get into the circus! I walked beside her and she was very adamant that I not touch her or HER pony. When it was time to get off she got into the pony face and told him thank you.

Snow!
We finally got show! I have been anxiously awaiting snow for many reasons. The main one being that I bought Kellyn some snow pants that she likely will not fit in next week and because I don't want to deal with bug issues with summer. Below are some pictures of Kellyn all bundled up to pay in the snow.
long over-due update!
I apologize for a lack of posting recently. I've been having troubles uploading pictures so I get frustrated and quit. Kellyn is a fun, ornery, independent, loving, sweet and sometimes mean little two year old. She continues to impress everyone with her advance vocabulary and whit. Below are pictures of some of the fun things we have been doing the last couple of months.
We made bath tub paints. I took shaving cream ( Ryan never shaves his face anyway) and added food coloring. She thought it was awesome. The only problem was that I had to drain the tub and refill it to actually wash her.
We made sugar cookies for Santa. Kellyn helped decorate the cookies with frosting and sprinkles. I think she enjoyed taste testing more than the actual decorating part!
We made play-dough one day. She helped me measure out the ingredients and picked the colors.
Luckily it has been a VERY mild winter so we've got to enjoy some out door time. I love this picture.. Look at those eyes!

We've got a smart little cookie!
Ryan and I were both shocked after moving Kellyn to a toddler bed because we had no problems with her getting out of bed when it was bed time. She quickly figured out that she is able to get out of her own bed. So, essentially for the last 2-3 months we have been battling her to stay in bed every, single, night. As of late the battling has gotten later and later, until almost 10:30 some nights. We've asked around and it seems like the only thing to do, and the most suggested by doctors, is to get one of those child protection door knobs (where you have to pinch the plastic cover to get the door to open). So, after much debating and trying other things first we finally resorted to getting one of those door knobs.
Tonight, when putting Kellyn to bed I told her that if she chooses to get out of bed that she would be stuck. Shockingly, she got out of bed. She stood at the door crying and knocking for 10-15 minutes before I went in to console her. I told her that she again, would not be able to get out of her room if she got out of bed. She said, "I'll be stuck? I need to stay in bed." I told her yes and that I'd see her in the morning.
Ryan was in the shower and I was watching my guilty pleasure (Vampire Diaries) and I thought I heard something in her room, but I didn't hear anything else so I continued in the glory of my show. During a commercial I got up to see if she was asleep. Much to my surprise she was awake, with her light on, and with no pants on!
(Backstory, she has a stool that she pushes around everywhere to get things that are out of her reach or turn on a light). I went into her room and she was playing with her toys. I asked she didn't have her pants on and she said, "I pottied in my pull up and needed new panties." (another back story, she hasn't figured out that she puts one leg in each hole of her panties... so she puts two legs in one hole and pulls up her panties. So, her little hinney is exposed and her panties are bunched up around her waist.) I got her dressed and took away her stools and told her to go to sleep.
I've often been amazed by her problem solving skills for a two year old, but tonight she almost out did herself. I couldn't be mad at her. I was actually somewhat proud of her and her ornery ways!
