Baby Showers

I have never been big on baby shower games.. I just like the cake! :) I have a few showers coming up and while I was browsing a DIY website (see post below) I stumbled across this list of baby shower games. Some of them sounded enjoyable and I wouldn't mind having some of them at my baby shower (hint, hint aunt Sandy, Mallory and Holly:):)) Let me know if they sound fun or lame.

Guess Mom's Tummy Size: (Materials- String or yarn and scissors) Have each woman pull the yarn to the size they believe would fit perfectly around the Mother-To-Be's center of her pregnant tummy. After everyone cuts their string, compare the results to the Mommy-To-Be's actual tummy. Give a prize to the woman who is the most close! This is a baby shower favorite.

How Many Baby Items Can You Name: (Materials- pad of paper and pen for each woman). Have each woman write down as many baby products as they can name (bottle, blanket, pacifier, etc) within 5 minutes. Sure it is easy at the beginning, but towards the last few minutes, the women will start racking their brains for more :) Give a prize to the woman who gets the most baby products named!

Motherly Advise: Each guest is given an index card when they arrive and asked to write a question a new mother would ask (e.g. How can I stop my baby from waking every 2 hours?) Then during the baby shower party, pass all the cards out face down. The guests write the answer to their question on the back of the different card. Then read the non-matching questions and answers for some strange tips. Decorate onesies- Provide a table to decorate onesies for the baby. Have supplies like iron on designs, markers, paints, and decorative items for guests to use. You can tie dye some onesies or provide onesies in different sizes and colors to make it with

Hi Sam, I got the link to your blog from Julie. Sounds like all is going well. I certainly wish you all the best. Being a mom is a great thing (of course being a grandmother is more fun at my age!). Really enjoying reading your blog.

Something I really enjoyed at the shower my aunts threw was that they gave everyone an index card and had them write guesses for her name, birthdate, time and weight. It was a lot of fun looking back at them after Jenna was born to see who had the best guess.

Sam, the TP guess game is a good one! How about the clothes pin game? Every guest gets a clothes pin and whenever they say a forbidden word they lose a clothes pin, ie; diapers, baby, ect. The guest with the most clothes pins in the end wins. The motherly advice written on index cards is another good idea. I would suggest having the guest write in different color pens, and add their own decorations to the cards. You could then take the cards after all the advice is read and make a little booklet as a keepsake.
P.S. Ryan did remember to ask me for addresses! Oh yeah, and invited me to dinner! Love KellyS.

The onsie idea is great but might be messy. But I have a great onsie idea..."you think I'm cute?..you should see my Aunt Brandy" :-)
